WHALSAY HERITAGE & COMMUNITY CENTRE
Open Wed-Sat | 2pm-5pm | May to September | £3 Admission
Whalsay Heritage & Community Centre aims to preserve, protect, and advance the heritage and traditions of the island of Whalsay. Established in 2006, we have continually grown and expanded our organisation. Each year, in addition to our permanent Fishing and Lairds of Whalsay exhibitions, we offer engaging seasonal exhibitions and host community events. We are passionate about passing on an appreciation of our culture and heritage. We aim to make your visit an enriching, exciting, and educational experience.

Exhibition room one holds the fishing displays. It shows the evolution of the fishing industry and heritage in Whalsay. Photographs, documents, interviews, and artefacts plot the story of our fishing industry form the earliest traces to modern day.

Exhibition room two holds the growing Lairds of Whalsay display, including photos, family trees, and a wealth of artefacts. The WH&CC building is located in the 'farmer's house' of the former the Symbister House complex.
